P.A.C.
What is PAC?
Parents or guardians of any student enrolled at Mildred Hall School are members of PAC. Each school has a similar group. These councils were created to give parents, administrators, teachers and school board members a forum to discuss concerns, issues and interests related to school.
Each PAC might have different priorities. Some PACs are heavily into fundraising and some are more issue driven. It all depends on the parents that show up to meetings and where the collective interests lie as a group.
Communication is the most valuable tool parents and guardians have with regards to their children’s education. Appreciate it and make the effort to use it wisely. It is sad to think that some parents never come in to the school to talk with the staff or even know who is on the school board, the body that makes many decisions about education in YK1 schools. PAC meetings provide parents with an opportunity to do just that.
PAC meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month at the school over the noon hour (usually indicated on the monthly calendar). They are very informal and everyone has an opportunity to speak if they wish. Please join us if you have any questions or comments or just to see what is going on in the school or with the district.
Remember, even if you do not care for meetings, there are many other ways parents can be involved or help at school. Offer to do lunch hour supervision, help with recycling, re-shelve books or share your knowledge in the classroom…these are all simple in effort and big in rewards.
Showing interest and being involved in your child’s education will inspire them in their life of learning!
