Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visits Mildred Hall School

Today Mildred Hall School was visited by The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, Minister of Health Jane Philipott, Minister of Indigenous Affairs Carolyn Bennett, and Member of Parliament Michael McLeod. Prime Minister Trudeau held a press conference in the main foyer of the school, and Mildred Hall students in Grade 5 to 8 had the opportunity to sit in the audience and hear him speak.

After the press conference, students asked the Prime Minister questions about Canada’s political system and what it is like to be a Prime Minister.

Upon arrival at the school, Metro Huculak, Superintendent of Yellowknife Education District No. 1, presented the Prime Minister with a copy of “How Raven Returned the Sun” to give to his children. The book was commissioned by YK1, and is written in both English and North Slavey to help revitalize Indigenous languages.
