I have been the school counselor at Mildred Hall School for the past six years. Before MHS I was a guidance counselor at Sir John Franklin High School and a teacher at JH Sissons School. I moved to the Northwest Territories in 1990 and began teaching in Behchoko. That was a wonderful experience and helped me realize that the North is a great place to raise children. My husband, Blake, and I have two children who are both in college now. We like to travel, especially to warm places, and to see our parents in Nova Scotia during the summer. I also enjoy cross-country skiing, cycling and watching television.
In my role as school counselor at Mildred Hall School, I strive to support all students in achieving school success. Sometimes students are hindered by issues within the school and sometimes by issues outside of school. I try to work with students to resolve these issues and to develop coping skills to give them confidence for the future. Parents are welcome to refer their child for counseling at any time, either in person or by telephone.
